Marie Antoinette Dress

Marie Antoinette had a huge influence on French fashion beginning in the 1780s. In 1780 her provocative robe à la polonaise, with a bosom-enhancing bodice and ankle baring skirt, soon caught on. Sleeve remained elbow length, but were tight fitting and edged with a frill. 

The robe à la polonaise or polonaise is a woman's garment, consisting of a gown with a cutaway, draped and swagged overskirt, worn over an underskirt or petticoat.
